Technical Q&A

We get some great questions on Facebook and do our best to answer them, sometimes with the help of our tech team. As these are common questions, we wanted to share the answers on the blog too in case you missed them and have the same questions.

Q: How may sub domains can we have?

A:Currently, we offer 20 sub-domains (5 for each service) for each domain you have. If you require additional domains, we recommend upgrading to a Premium account, where you will have 100 sub-domains (25 for each service).

Q: I’m trying to customize my page with a GDI theme layout, but I am the only one who can see the changes. When I get on any other browser I can’t see the custom theme layout on my page. It only works on Firefox. I’ve tried Facefetti, Pagerage, Grease Monkey, and Stylish add-ons, but I still get the same results. What can I do?

A: This is a temporary problem and can happen because websites won’t all resolve immediately until their DNS provider updates with new information about the domain (usually a couple hours). If you switched your root domain to use WordPress, which has different DNS, your new changes may be slow to propagate across the internet as a result. So wait a bit before you check back and your changes should show in all browsers.

Q: I saw the announcement for 10GB of storage on WordPress hosted sites, but didn’t get much else information. Can you tell me more about this? How does this  affect plugins?

A: When you install new plug ins for WordPress (or perform any actions with items like WordPress, Drupal, etc.), the storage space they require is deducted from your total 10GB quota. In most cases, WordPress plugins take a negligible amount of storage space. You should not be worried about exceeding your quota unless you are installing thousands of large plugins.

No one can see the theme, but myself, this truly sucks. especially for people who love to, theme skin, customize and MOD websites like me. Oh well.

Q&A: Are There Any Good Ways to Generate Leads Offline?

In a world where online businesses are now king, it’s easy to forget that brick and mortar stores still have needs. To generate leads offline you need to get creative and think of the needs of those you are hoping to be your next leads.

As was mentioned in a recent webinar, take the example of your local pizza delivery place. They may or may not have a website, and they surely have a phone number. Most of their customers are probaly regulars. How can YOU and GDI get them more business. How about a website for them like orderpizza.ws? This alone will give them a leg up. Orderpizza.ws is surely easier to remember than a 10 digit phone number. This is just one example, but it will hopefully get your wheels turning for how you can generate offline leads. Be sure to share your ideas and experiences with this in the comments! Best of luck!

Q&A: Does GDI Offer Training?

GDI offers training in a few different ways. First you can sit in on one of webinars we offer every Tuesday at www.register.gdiwebinars.ws . You can also visit www.gdiwebinars.ws for past webinars. Each webinar starts with a great session that aims to answer all of those questions new users of GDI might have. The second part of the webinar offers timely tips like how to best use Facebook for your .ws domain and how to get the best use of newly added features. Best of all, each webinar offers you a chance to have your questions answered live by some of our most prolific GDI users.

A second way to get “training” is to speak with your upline. GDI is a unique opportunity in that you have people who have “been there done that” right at your fingertips. Your upline can be a wealth of information and it is a good idea to establish a great relationship with them. That way anytime you have a question or need advice, there is someone who is making the GDI program work for them to help you. At GDI we emphasize the importance of communication in success. Communication is essential with your upline and downline. Keep those lines open and get your heads together every now and then to help your .ws business continue to power forward. Business is about relationships, GDI gives you an opportunity to build some great ones.
