Effectively Using Email Marketing Part I

mailboxYou’ve created a great website and you’ve got traffic, but not the kind of signups or actions you would like. What do you do next? Consider using email marketing. You don’t need to sign up for an email marketing service, you can do it yourself easily. Emails sent by you can help to support your website and engage your audience. Once your audience is engaged, you can ask them to the do the next step, whether it’s signing up to be an affiliate, buying your product or visiting your store in person.  An example of a type of email you might send to a website visitor is one with more information, a deal, or an action item. It’s up to you to decide the content of your email to take your audience to that next step.

Before you get started with email, here are a few points to keep in mind.

Users Must Opt In

To avoid being labeled as SPAM or worse, people who will be receiving emails from you must first opt-in. This means that they must provide their email address to you, understanding that they are signing up to receive emails from you. This can be accomplished by a simple contact form on your website. Both SiteBuilder and WordPress allow you to add a contact form to your website. Simply adjust the text above the contact form to say something like “To learn more by email” or “Subscribe to our email list for deals” and you’ve met the requirement for opt-in. Double opt-in are helpful as well, but require more services. If you’re interested in using a double opt-in, you can learn more here.

Provide Real Value

Now that you’ve got subscribers to your email, you want to make it worth their effort. You can do this by providing real value. Value can be helpful information, a coupon or deal,  or a collection of links that may be interesting to your new subscribers. Consider all the emails you see in your inbox, what makes you open the few you do? Keep this in mind as your draft your email and your email subject line.

Why Aren’t I Making Money Yet?

One question we get from new affiliates is, “Why aren’t I making any money.” This often comes within the first few weeks of joining as an affiliate and is nothing to worry about. Becoming a GDI affiliate is your first step in building your own business. As such it may take a little time as you learn what you’re doing before you make money. GDI knows if can be discouraging if you aren’t earning Income for Life as quickly as you’d like. Here are two ways you can work to earn income right away as a new affiliate.

Signups

This is the main way affiliates can earn income. When you sign up for GDI, you are essentially signing up for two things. You have agreed to sign up with a sponsor, or if you registered without a sponsor, one will be assigned to you. When you sign up with a sponsor, you become part of their team or downline. When you sign up people below you, they become a part of your team or downline. For each person you sign to your downline you are paid out $1 per month per person in your downline. So it’s up to you to get downline signups and ensure they convert to active affiliates. Signups that just stay on for the trial and leave do not count towards your downline or commissions.

Learning Bonus

The Learning Bonus is a reward for taking the first steps to being successful with GDI. It’s a $25 bonus that affiliates can earn within their first two months with GDI. This is a great way to learn more about GDI and earn income easily within your first weeks with GDI. The steps are achievable and a step by step list can be found in your Members Area when eligible.

 

Wrapping Up 2013

2013 is coming to a close and things can be pretty quiet business-wise. That makes this the perfect time to look back on the previous year and make a plan for the next.  Here’s how to wrap up 2013 and make 2014 your most successful year yet.

Grade 2013

It’s a good idea to measure you success at the end of each month and keep a running document of this information. Even if you haven’t been too good at keeping track of this information in 2013, you can still easily assess the year. Ask yourself a few key questions. What was my biggest success? What was my biggest challenge? How often did I lose a team member? How much time did I spend on building my business with GDI each week? What bonuses did I earn? The answers to these questions can give you a simple overview of your year and allow you to get brainstorming for 2014.

Set 2014 Goals

Based on the answers to the above questions and what you hope to achieve in 2014, it’s time to set some new hard goals and deadlines. These goals can be based on numbers, like how many hours put into building your business, or how close you are to your Duplication Bonus. You can also set goals based on personal growth and helping others, like making sure to watch our Tutorial Videos, or to helping to answer questions new affiliates may have on Facebook.

Now that you’ve set your goals, you need to take the time to write out the steps that will help you achieve those goals, like we did below:
