You have a level of freedom that can’t be provided in your normal 9-5. You decide how to build your website, your brand, and your network. As a GDI affiliate you have the freedom to work how you want and build income for life. We support freedom in your life. Are you ready to take advantage of it?

Becoming Your Own Boss

As an affiliate marketer you are your own boss. This means answering only to yourself when it comes to scheduling, income, and the like. It’s something to take seriously so that you stay on task and don’t go too easy on yourself. Here are a few ways to accomplish this.

Schedule Reviews

Reviews with your boss are commonplace in the standard work setting for good reason. As your own boss, this isn’t something you should get rid of. Reviews help to keep you on track and highlight areas that you are excelling in as well as those that need work. Schedule a review for yourself every few months. You are the boss and the employee for this scenario. Do a self review and identify areas you need work in as well as those that deserve praise. Save your reviews so you can look back at the end of the year to see your progress and set new goals.

Create Office Hours

Teachers, mentors, and bosses have office hours. These are scheduled blocks of time where they can assist their students, mentees, and employees and can be very helpful to everyone. Consider something like this for your downline members. Set aside a few hours each week to connect with your team and assist them as needed. You may be your own boss, but affiliate marketing is still a team endeavor; don’t neglect this aspect!

Think Big Picture

The thought of being your own boss, if only part time, is exciting and liberating. All of the freedom that comes with being your own boss may make it easy to get a little lazy and put off responsibilities of building your business. To avoid these traps, think “big picture.” This means envisioning what your hope to get from being an affiliate marketer and working each day to get it. As your own boss you’re half way there, now you need to build the income!

Traditional Marketing Tips to Apply to Your Affiliate Program

Use Social Bookmarking Sites

As you may have noticed, beneath each post on this blog there area a few counters and logos for sites. The Affiliate Blog uses the Share This tool to easily let any of our readers share our blog posts easily on Facebook, Twitter, through email or through social bookmarking sites. If you aren’t familiar with social bookmarking sites, they are a lot like their name implies. Social bookmarking sites allow you to create an account and profile so that you can favorite or bookmark any links you want, these favorite links then become part of the profile you have created with these sites, and people can browse your profile for links. Your favorite links are also shared in a feed for anyone one to stumble upon. You can use social bookmarking sites to bookmark your own important blog posts and encourage your visitors to do so too. This is great for SEO and just sharing your site in every way possible.

Create Content Ahead of Time

As we’ve shared in past posts, a great way to increase SEO and your visitor base is to ensure you always have fresh content. It’s easy to get overwhelmed when you visit your website and realize you need to update it and write something right NOW. But instead of getting in moments of panic, create content ahead of time and create a schedule. If you have WordPress you can even schedule your posts to be published on specific dates in the future. You site is going to look more viable when your content is new and relevant to your readers.

Explain Things Simply

The GDI opportunity may be simple to you, but remember that people visiting your site might not quite understand it yet and need a little guidance. This is where it is OK to be very simple and straight forward in your writing. Explain the GDI opportunity to your site visitors and why it is important to them. Be clear and concise to help answer some of their first questions. Bullet points, images and personal success stories can help to make your point as well. The better you explain the opportunity and benefits, the better chances you have to succeed with GDI.
