Twitter’s New Look

Like many social networks, Twitter is constantly reinventing its look, which can sometimes leave users confused. Twitter is slowly rolling out a new look, and you Twitter has probably converted automatically to the new look or will be soon. We share how to navigate the new look.

Home

Clicking on this icon will take you Home where you can see the tweets of those you are following, the number of tweets you have sent and the number of followers you have, how many people you follow and top Trending Topics. By clicking around this area you can also see all of the tweets you have posted and also navigate to your profile page by clicking on your user name.

Connect

Clicking the Connect icon will take you to all of your Interactions. Interactions are Twitter’s new word to covered everything from retweets, to mentions, to favorited tweets. Here you can sort by interactions or just plain old mentions. In Interactions you can see when someone uses the @ sign and mentions you or starts a back and forth conversation with you. You can also see who your followers recently started following, your tweets that have been retweeted and any tweets that have been favorited. So click on connect when you want to see what everyone else is up to and who is chatting with you.

Discover

Discover is the new place to find top stories being shared on Twitter with links directly to them. Visiting Discover can be good for coming up with ideas to Tweet about or conversations to start.

Compose

Simple as it sounds, Compose is where you can draft and send new tweets. By clicking on the icon, a box will appear for your to write your tweet. This can also be done in the Home area below your username in the box that says “Compose new tweet.”

Use your Twitter account as a way to supplement other networking and marketing tactics, though a powerful medium, not everyone is on Twitter. You can use Twitter to build your network by searching by key words related to GDI, network and affiliate marketing and your team in general. Search hot topics in network marketing and GDI and add your comments on the subject them with a hash tag (#). Your comments will then come up in a feed, giving others access to your thoughts and the option to follow you.

How to Benefit from Twitter’s New Activity Feed

For those of you already on Twitter, you may have noticed that within the past few months, Twitter has rolled out a new way to see what the people you following are doing, and what your followers have to say about you and who they are. This can all be found under the “Activity” heading on your Twitter homepage. This new feature is great for those using Twitter to build their GDI business and team. Here’s how:

Who is Following Whom

In your activity feed, you can now see some of the recent activity of people you are following all in one place. This includes being able the recent followings of those you follow. This will enable you to build up a network even faster, see who these people are following and if they can be any help to you. You can always immediately follow these people in hopes of a followback and chance to start up a conversation.

Favorited Tweets

Also in this activity timeline you can see recently favorited tweets. This is beneficial to helping you learn more about the people you are following, but also what they are sharing. People often favorite great articles, blogs or just great tweets, so check them out and see how these favorites might help you.

Instant Retweets

Twitter always allowed you the power to see who was retweeting what including your tweets, and now you can see it in real time. Check on this activity and take the time to thank people who retweet your tweets to build up a dialogue. Also see what people are retweeting to see top information and news.
