What is email forwarding?
Email forwarding allows you to have all new incoming email for a specific address forwarded to a different email address automatically. You may forward mail by creating a Forwarded Prefix or setting an Active Mailbox to forwarding. For Active Mailboxes, when email forwarding is DISABLED new messages are delivered into your inbox like normal. When email forwarding is ENABLED, new messages are NOT delivered to your inbox. Instead, they will be forwarded to the inbox of the destination email address you specify.
What’s the difference between an Active Mailbox set to Forwarding, and a Forwarded Prefix?
You may login and send mail from an Active Mailbox set to forwarding. Previously received mail that is stored in the inbox will remain while the Active Mailbox is set to forwarding, and you may continue to send mail. If an address is created in the Forwarded Prefixes section of your account, there is no actual mailbox associated with the address: there is no mailbox to login to, and you may not send mail using that address.
How do I enable forwarding for an Active Mailbox?
Click on the “Disabled” link of the mailbox you would like to forward. On the next page select the “Enabled” option and type the email address to which you want your incoming mail delivered and press the “Update” button. You will be sent a verification email to the destination address you specified with a link you must click to complete your forwarding setup. Your forwarding setup will remain as “Pending” until you click the verification link.
How do I create a Forwarded Prefix?
Enter a prefix to forward into the “New Email Forwarding Prefix” field of the Forwarded Prefixes section, enter a destination address, and click “Create Email Forwarding.” You will be sent a verification email to the destination address you specified with a link you must click to complete your forwarding setup. Your forwarding setup will remain as “Pending” until you click the verification link. You may forward up to 10 prefixes for each domain on your account.
What happens to my email while forwarding is “Pending”?
Email received while forwarding is “Pending” will be delivered to your inbox just as if email forwarding is disabled.
I haven’t received the verification email, how can another one be sent?
Click on the “Pending” link next to the mailbox. The next page will display the “Resend Forwarding Verification Email” link. Clicking on the link will resend the verification email to the destination address specified.
How do I disable email forwarding?
Click on the Pending or Active link next to the address in Active Mailboxes or Forwarded Prefixes. On the next page, select the Disable option and press the “Update” button. If the address is an Active Mailbox, new email will be delivered to your inbox.
